About Special Education
What Is Special Education?
Special Education is charged with providing oversight and implementation of federal and state laws that ensure a free appropriate public education for all children and youth with disabilities in New Hampshire. Given this charge, the Mission of the Special Education is to improve educational outcomes for children and youth with disabilities by providing and promoting leadership, technical assistance and collaboration statewide.
Who Is Eligible For Special Education?
Students, ages 3 to 21, who have been determined to have a disability have access to a free, appropriate public education. The school district provides services to address each child’s identified special education and related service needs. Services and placement are located within the least restrictive environment as determined by the student’s team.
