I am excited to begin my twenty-ninth year in the Milford School District as Principal of Heron Pond Elementary School. I graduated from Keene State College in 1989 with a B.S. in Elementary Education, was hired as a 4th grade teacher, and I have remained with the Milford School District ever since! In 1997 I received my Master of Education from Rivier College in Special Education and Learning Disabilities. I felt strongly that this knowledge base would serve me well as I continued to do what I love best-teach! After sixteen years in the classroom I did choose to serve as Milford Elementary School’s Title I Coordinator for both Heron Pond and Jacques. I returned to Rivier College to pursue my Certificate in Administration and will be starting my 5th year as Heron Pond’s Principal. In the role as principal I have the opportunity to support teachers in developing their practice and craft of teaching and I have the wonderful opportunity of watching our students’ grow over the four years they are with us at Heron Pond!
Education is an ever evolving field and each year we welcome new students. We have the opportunity to continuously reflect on our work and engage in new learning. The staff and I look forward to supporting your children in their learning this year. Heron Pond is a place where good things happen every day!
I would also like to tell you about my family. My husband, David Alcox, is an amazing history, psychology, and civics teacher at Milford High School. Our daughter Amanda is currently a Senior at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.
