I am excited to begin my twenty-sixth year in the Milford School District as Principal of Heron Pond Elementary School. As Mr. Saunders, the Assistant Principal, and I visited classrooms on the first day of school I was eager to remind students that before moving into administration I was a long time third and fourth grade teacher. Even now I still think of myself as a teacher first. In the role as principal I have the opportunity to support teachers in developing their practice and craft of teaching.
Education is an ever evolving field and each year we welcome new students. We have the opportunity to continuously reflect on our work and engage in new learning. The staff and I look forward to supporting your children in their learning this year. Heron Pond is a place where good things happen every day.
I would also like to tell you about my family. My husband, David Alcox, is an amazing history, psychology, and civics teacher at Milford High School. Our daughter Amanda is currently a freshman at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.
