LOVELY LANDSCAPES After much discussion and observing multiple master landscape artworks, students drew and painted their own. They designed their foreground, middle ground, background and horizon line keeping “the masters’ artwork” in mind. They used the knowledge of how objects appear smaller, duller and have less detail as they progress toward the background to complete their beautiful landscapes.
WHAT’S NEXT…. Masks, masks, masks!!!! We will be learning the history of maskmaking throughout the world. We will discuss the traditions, celebrations, materials and reasons humans have been making masks for centuries. We will make a joyful Mardi Gras paper sculpture mask. We will then connect with their classroom curriculum through their Shakespeare study. We will be making a ceramic mask of a chosen charactor from Midsummer Night’s Dream. We will incorporate many clay techniques including slab, coil, etching and texturizing to accomplish this.
